Please send some drool and prayers for GracieLou. She has been diagnosed with pancreatitis, and that's a lot for an old girl to handle. We adopted GracieLou from ABC over 10 years ago. At that time, she was estimated to be 3-5 years old. She is our last remaining basset and we've just relocated to our new home in MA. She really seemed to be enjoying her new digs...and the walks she now gets because we are in an apartment instead of a house. The vet has given us meds for pain, antibiotic, prescription food and fluids to give her sub-q. She ate a little last evening and ate a little this morning. She's not vomiting, but hadn't vomited prior to diagnosis either. She has a cough, but we are wondering if that might just be irritation due to reflux or something. She is sleeping a lot (but that's not unusual). When we walk her, we are letting her choose the pace...she is slow, but has tail up and seems to enjoy it. Of course, we know that bassets can be stoic, but she does not appear to be in pain. She did whimper when the vet palpated her belly. The vet also reported today that the specialist who read her X-rays said that there is what appears to be a mass in the belly, but couldn't say it conclusively because it could just be something else inflamed because of the pancreatitis. He recommends an ultrasound, which we will do once we get her back on her paws. Even if she has something else going on, we will only be planning palliative care anyway...so no rush.

Your wisdom and prayers are always appreciated.
