A note of caution:

If your dog has a reaction to a vaccine be absolutely positive that there
is a big notation on his chart whether it is electronic or paper: ask to
see it. I know what I am talking about.
Vets, contrary to what you may think, do not always read the chart
carefully. They skim. They look at the last 2 or 3 entries but eventually
the allergic response is not among them and they may miss it and you may
forget.
Nothing says "oh s---!" quite as much as a Vet who has just given your dog
something he is allergic to. And after the fact is when most people think
about it.
Some dogs just swell up and others stop breathing. Some dogs die in the
back seat before anybody knows there is anything wrong. Most reactions are
within the first half hour of the shot so if you are concerned sit in the
parking lot with your dog for awhile after the shots.
Penicillin is another biggie. Always always ASK what they have given your
dog.
Once your dog has a reaction to a vax always have them give preventative
medication BEFORE he is vaccinated for anything in the future and divide up
those shots. No dog needs to have a 4-in-1: it is convenient for everyone
except the dog. Give everything one at a time and ask your Vet if he
really needs each shot. You may want to think about doing titers instead.
Ask your Vet. Look for options. Never leave home without Benadryl and gas-X
if you have a Basset. My rules. Good luck.
