[Dailydrool] Apoquel

I've had 2 dogs with allergy problems, a Basset and a Collie. Apoquel was
not available when the Basset had problems and she ended up being on
Prednisolone for about 7 years. She took 2.5 mg a day which is a very low
dose for a dog her size. It did cause her to pee a lot but in end, she
suffered no real side affects from it other than peeing a lot. She died at
the rip old age of 14 1/4 years. She ended up dying from heart failure
which I don't think the Pred had anything to do with. I had a Collie that
was very itchy and we got him the Apoquel, 16 mg. I paid $177 at the vet
for a bottle of 100 pills. The pills gave him terrible diarrhea. He had to
stop taking it. I would suggest to anyone wanting to try it to see if they
can just buy a few pills so they aren't stuck with a big expensive bottle if
it doesn't work. I have also heard that after a while the Apoquel no longer
works. I think someone on this list may have said a few months back they had
a Bloodhound on it and after 2 years, it no longer worked.

Hope this info is helpful.
