Hello I’m back! I know this post is long and I didn’t want to overload the system., so I decided to make it two posts.Anyhow, completing my post. As I mentioned in my last post BHRSC picked up this basset with in the hour, and delivered him to the Vet close to my home to be vetted. His name was Whiskey I couldn’t walk him for a few days because I was out of town, so the other members of or great walking team, Michael and Lisa took over the chore of walking this poor thing. They were warned be careful and follow our fearful dog protocol, because he had been abused. Mike and Lisa walked him and e-mailed everyone on our team that he was a beautiful hound that didn’t exhibit any issues of aggression. My first meeting was after Whiskey was neutered. He had the cone of shame on so after a few minutes of walking with him banging the cone on everything . I decided that we would just chill out on a bench. He just melted in my arms, and looking into those big brown eyes I knew he would find a loving home very quickly. a few days after my first meeting with this beautiful guy I took him to my home park. As we crossed the street after our walk my Wife came home. I introduced Whiskey to her and as she sat of the porch Whiskey came over and climbed in her lap and looked at her with those big brown eyes. I filled her in on the history of this guy and as he melted into her arms she said he should find a loving home, and then said get him. I reminded her of her allergies and our age, she said we will deal with both issues. So to make a long story short, we were able to adopt this adorable hound. We have had him 10 days and he has been super. He has turned our lives upside down in a good way. He appears to be house trained, and travels well, likes to play fetch, and is an excellent counter surfer. Shortly after we brought him home he hijacked a Costco hot dog from the back side of our kitchen counter. What a hound! As far as allergies, my wife informed me that after a 2 hr one way trip to our vacation home and back that she did not experience any allergies. she feels that Sir Winston (formerly Whiskey name changed because my wife didn’t feel comfortable with liquor in the house). is a great hound. She dotes on him constantly. This is a good thing, because all we hubbies know that a happy wife makes happy life. What a joy it is to have this wonderful hound grace our lives. I will add to the conversation about age and and hounds on a later post. The timing of the age post couldn’t come at a more appropriate time for us. Love ya all and glad to be back!!
