My very limited knowledge of the subject suggests that
dogs with bladder stones usually need to have them removed surgically and
then be on a special diet to prevent the stones from re-forming, as well as
medication to change the pH of the urine.
There are two types of stones, Struvite and Oxalate and the treatment is
slightly different so first you find out what kind they are and then
whether they are bad enough to remove surgically or attempt a
medical/dietary approach.

Dogs who have bladder stones often need to be on medication or diet their
entire lives to prevent build-up. There are dietary supplements that help
tremendously to prevent further stone formation.

Increasing the amount of water as well as altering the pH of the urine is
the usual treatment. Also preventing urinary tract infections is very
necessary as well as making sure the dog is not holding urine for
excessively long periods of time. Sometimes adding cranberry to the diet is
very helpful but please consult with your Veterinarian.
Bassets are, alas, prone to bladder stones.
