Droolers,
I have two senior bassets that have been getting into nasty fights lately. Abe has always been a grump not reallyaggressive but nasty from afar, snarling and woofing. He is probably almost 14 and has a lot of health issues ,mobility issues. I always attributed it to him being in pain and not wanting the others to get to close for fear they would step on or bump him. He has literally harrassed poor Buster who is so terrified of Abe's constant snarling that he hides in the other room and is afraid to walk/run by him to get to his spot. I will have to stand in front of Abe and block his view so Buster can run and jump to his place on the couch. Well now Buster has decided he has had enough and is fighting back. There have been two incidents in the past few days. I am afraid they are escalating. Before they would be mouthy but not really biting but now it seems they are trying to do actual harm. While this happens a lot at feeding time I don't think it is about food. Everyone is feed away from each other but during the preparation phase they are all on top of one another trying to be close to me in case something falls on t he floor. But it does happen at other times, it seems more like they just get to close to each other, like in a doorway or hallway and that's it, they try to rip each others face off. One of them bit me pretty bad on the hand last week when I tried to seperate them.I love them both but it is wearing on my nerves, I am on edge! Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
