We didn’t wait to be called for breakfast this morning. We just went and helped ourselves.

Mariah  was the ony one who didn’t really tuck in. I think she was still worried the London Eye might travel a bit too fast. But everyone else was raring to go.

Stonewall and Samantha volunteered to pop to the shop and grab us a picnic. Jed, Madden and Rusty offered to help and we agreed to meet on the South Bank, at the entrance to The Eye.

Pawtunia loved he South Bank, lt has everything an art-loving hound could want. There are theatres, bookshops and restaurants as well as artists selling their work, some of whom would draw or paint you while you waited. Kaylee Dawn and Kaitlynn Skye couldn’t resist sitting for a charcoal artist. She was delighted to have such beautiful subjects and spent a little longer than usual catching the girls just right.

Chunky and Sasha decided the picnic hounds may not have quite got enough food for the ride, so they popped into one or two of the restaurants and picked up extra supplies. We got to the landing gate 15 minutes before flight time and who should we find waiting for us? Herr Leidenschaft.

Mariah shuffled forward somewhat shyly “Mr Leidenschaft, how lovely to see you. Thank you so much for inviting us to share your pod.”

“Gunter, please,” he smiled down at her. “I hav bought ze champagne, zalmon and ztrawberries for ze picnic.”“Oh, that’s too kind of you, “she purred.  “Erm, my friends have also bought a snack to add to the table.”“Exzelllent my dear. Von can never hav too much picnic. Please to all com here, ready for ze flight.”

As we get ready to enter the pod, Stonewall, Samantha, Jed, Madden and Rusty appeared round the corner of the National Theatre, pushing a market barrow piled high with food.  Gunter looked aghast: “There is not ze room for ze barrow,” he gasped. Adding under his breath “Maybe there is such a thing as too much picnic.”

“Don’t worry, “ I assured him. We have five minutes before we board. We’ll have a little snack first.”

Twinkletoes and Bobo the Inhaler fluttered over. Bobo sniffed the piles of food. “Goodness me, he said. “I thought the beagles at the Bridge knew how to put on a feast, but look at this.
Qw Poppy, Rudy, Qw Olive and Duchess all fluttered down to look.  “Oh look,” pointed Olive, there are some specialist fudges from the English regions – Cornish, Welsh, Scottish…… Talking of Scottish, has anyone seen Hooter and Stuart?”
We all looked around. They were nowhere to be seen. Surely they wouldn’t miss our pod?
“All aboard,” called Gunter. Ve hav to get on now or ze pod vill go vithout us. The veel doesn’t stop moving, so ve have to enter right this minutes.”
“I will go and make sure they are safe,” said Olive. “You all go.” And she fluttered off on her golden wings.
