I am a very bad slave.
I am unlikely to be forgiven.
It was Clara's 13th birthday on Monday and I said nothing. I posted nothing. I did nothing.

I'll be honest, gulp, I forgot. You see, I have always celebrated her gotcha day in October. But as this year both Pawtunia and Millie celebrated their birthdays at the same time, I was reminded and I should have said something. Therefore I am getting a massive stink-eye and presentation of a pert posterior.

I have another reason for forgetting. While I was helping Clara write the London Adventure, my naughty, fluffy, challenging, beautiful Rolph went down in the rear. I was to be found in a most unladylike heap on the hallway floor bawling my eyes out, lying beside him for a few hours. It didn't help.

Thank doG. He is now back up on his paws, but not until after I spent (another) small fortune at the vet and a few days helping him stand and move with the aid of a sling fashioned from an old towel.

Clara says I always make a fuss of Rolph and he is an old hypochondriac. I say she is lucky to be so very healthy for her age and Rolph would not have made many birthdays before his 12 if I had not been such a sucker to his every slightly "off" look.

Anyway, Clara is one of the sweetest hounds on the face of this earth. She should have been roundly celebrated and treated for becoming sweet 13. I will be making amends. It will involve treats and a trip to the pet store to chose a pretty new collar, or something.
