​Bill, your message brought tears to my eyes.

Our dear friends are never forgotten. Sometimes the way we have to serve
them is terribly painful for us ... and yet it makes things less painful
for me. (Fulfilling the same role for my dear Billy B Basset was one of the
hardest days of my life thus far.)

I would like to live in a world where the right thing and the easy thing
reliably overlapped.
