In light of Beverly's post on the 3rd....(see below)

When our basset, Goliath, died late one afternoon, I took him to our vet
to have him cremated. I had called the vet to tell them and make sure
that someone would be there to receive him. The entire staff waited for
me to get there and they were all crying (worse than I was!!). They were
a great group.

I used to work for a Veterinarian. I worked there for over 20 years and I
met an awful lot of dogs, and I was reading about someone who has recently
lost a pet and how sad she is and I suddenly began remembering the dogs I
knew and liked, and who are now gone.

And it occurred to me that while it may be small comfort to some, does it
help at all to know that there well may be others who remember your dog,
and liked him or her, or smile when they think about the dog?

Because I remember so many who I really liked and got to know-- not
necessarily Bassets but a lot were and if it helps at all just think that
out there someplace is a Vet or a tech or groomer or just someone in the
lobby one day when you were there with your dog, who also thinks back on
what a nice dog, or pretty, or funny or just loveable your dog was.
We had so many great dogs who came through, maybe one was yours.
