[Dailydrool] A mystery for Merta Lou, Lady Detective

ALoha  Merta Lou,
  This is Mila, the well behaved basset sister in Hawaii.  At least one of my sisters is a serial killer.  I do not know which one.  Possibly both are guilty. 
  Today a freshly killed (two puncture wounds on either side of its shoulders and a broken neck) huge gray rat corpse mysteriously appeared in the dog bed next to Mom's reading chair about noon.  It had not been there an hour earlier when Mom had picked up an aluminum baking pan purloined from the trash and deposited in the same location. and clearly the corpse had been moved from another location.  Last week Mom found a dead pigeon killed with exactly the same MO and laid out ceremoniously next to her bed.  ANd the week before that two pigeons in the yard which had not yet been moved into the house and displayed.
  So who is the culprit?
  Could it be my basset sister, the notorious Mariah the Maraudah?  Mom eye-witnessed Mariah through a window one time kill a feral chicken who was so unwise as to fly into the yard.  And Dawn of the West once witnessed Mariah going after a rattlesnake in California and had to pull her away.
  Or was it my pit mix hunting dog sister, Ipo, who was obviously a pighunting dog in her earlier life before moving in with us, as judged by her numerous scars over her face, chest, and front legs?  And Ipo is part terrier, a breed known for the killing MO of grabbing rodents and shaking them to break their necks. She could be a killer.
  Or were they in cahoots?  After Mariah killed the feral chicken, it was Ipo who fetched the corpse and brought it into the house and lay it at my Dad's feet as an offering for dinner. Perhaps Ipo is an accomplice retriever.
  So, Merta Lou, how do I find out which is the serial killer?  I myself would not hurt a fly--well, that is not entirely true--I love to catch and eat flies.
