[Dailydrool] Morse and chronic diarrhoea

Good morning droolers and hope everyone is doing well? Drool to all in
need sent from Mr Morse drooling for chicken or anything delectable in his
mind (unfortunately that can include cat turds). We would like your advice
about chronic diarrhoea please. As you know, Morse was diagnosed with
suspected haemangiosarcoma (massive) a month ago, and we were told he
doesn't have "months" to live. At the moment he is doing really well and
is so bright and happy, and eating well and walking well. I would say he
is in minimal discomfort and has maybe a quarter of a Rimadyl/Tramadol
every few days but has been taking that for the last few years in any case
for arthritis - he is nearly 14 now. He was on a raw diet previously which
he loved, and although he has been faecally incontinent for the last couple
of years (bless him, he doesn't even realise sometimes!) this has always
been easy to deal with because they were solid nuggets (sorry to be so
graphic). However, in the last 6 weeks or so this has changed, and we are
getting very frequent (almost constant) bouts of diarrhoea which can be
quite mucousy too (again sorry to be so graphic). It may be something even
related to his condition now, we are not sure. We have tried rice,
chicken/white fish, but nothing seems to be working. Our staple of
Montmorillonite (clay type formula) which we have used successfully since
he was a pup - now called Dicky Tummy (!) - is not working any longer. We
have tried l-glutamine for its binding properties, as well as Slippery Elm,
pumpkin and a fibre biscuit such as Weetabix cereal. These worked for a
little bit last week, but the diarrhoea is now back again, so we are having
to look at maybe if we have slipped up in the food department and something
has set him off again - a friend brought over a cooked sausage for him and
maybe this did it. Anyway, I will try ringing the vets tomorrow to see if
there is anything they can suggest a supply of to help Morse over the time
he has left, as I don't want him getting too weak just because of
diarrhoea. However, if anyone else has any suggestions, we are all ears.
Especially Morse :))
Thank you droolers - you are the best.
