[Dailydrool] Infected sebaceous cyst

My 10-year-old had a nasty infection this spring that took 2 months to heal. He was initially put on Keflex, with me keeping the site clean and using Neosporin topically, & most of the site healed. But the open wound just wouldn't completely close. On the third vet visit, he was switched to oral Baytril for 2 weeks, & that finally did the trick.

So it may take more than one round and more than one type of antibiotic for the site to heal. Keep a close watch, & if the initial antibiotic isn't fixing things completely, ask the vet about trying another antibiotic. And if you can afford it, you can have the infection cultured to learn exactly what it is and what types of antibiotic are most effective.

Hope Ginger's cyst heals soon.
