Hi all, the ever clueless momPerson here,
First off, I was so sorry to hear of the loss of Delilah Belle.  They are never with us long enough.  Fly free sweet girl, you were loved up until your last second here on earth, and well beyond.
Our Snoopy is FINE at present.  Simply the dickens.  Hogging the bed, howling if his meal isn't prepared fast enough, demanding his after dinner walks ..... and we are quite delighted with all this as the week after Thanksgiving it looked like we were loosing him, at 13 1/2.
Thursday morning, after Thanksgiving, he woke up crying early in the morning so Greg boosted him down off of the bed thinking he simply needed to go potty (the boy has a bladder the size of a walnut and it immaculate about his business) so nothing unusual there.  It was very early, about 4 am, both Greg and I rolled over and then ..... I woke again .... about 7.  What???  No Snoopy?  He should have been back in 5 minutes, and he should have demanded breakfast long before this.  So I headed down the hall and found him on a dog bed in the living room.  I past him and went into the kitchen and made up his bowl (Snoopy stew from the crock pot) and put it down and nothing ....... no interest.  Didn't even get out of bed.  I brought it into the living room and showed him but, nothing.  He has never refused a bowl before and this is beef and yams and carrots so what am I going to do to entice him?
Oh lord, I sat down on the floor and pet him and asked him nicely .... he wouldn't even sniff.  So then I started thinking about all the advice on the drool and they say with an old dog it doesn't matter what they eat just that they eat so I started looking through the fridge and offering .... Yogurt: nope, cottage cheese: nope, filet mignon:  nope, salami: nope, week old left over turkey from Thanksgiving:  WINNER WINNER turkey dinner!!!  I am not kidding the boy ate 4-6 oz of turkey for me (hand fed of course).  Phew.  So I called the vet, made an appointment for Friday in case this continued and went to work.  I hugged him before I left and thought I noticed some trembling.  When I came home that evening Greg told me that Snoopy couldn't take more then 2 steps without falling over and was crying in pain and had been given tramadol and was now sleeping.  Later in the evening I got another 4-6 oz of turkey in him, it's all he would eat.  He got another dose of tramadol too.
Friday morning the vet saw him ...... and told us his back was FINE but he had somehow injured BOTH shoulders and BOTH hips.  What??  How??  She prescribed a VERY long laser session (20 min) and a follow on one 2 days later and a 3rd 2 days after that.  Tramadol as needed for pain.  Feed him anything he will eat.  And......I was scheduled to travel on business, to London, for a week, the next day (Saturday).  Greg was livid ..... he was convinced this would go the way of LuLu and Gracie and Snoopy would depart this earth while I was out of town.  Greg is a real trooper though he tempted Snoopy with turkey and when the turkey ran out he fed Snoopy my home made turkey soup ..... shuttled him to his laser treatments.... dotted over his every move ..... and Snoopy improved .... slowly .... I'm told there was one day where Snoopy refused all efforts to make him eat and there was a panicked run to McDonalds for cheese burgers and that worked.
I came back from London to find my boy running up and down the hall and inhaling his fresh batch of Snoopy stew.  My poor husband aged 5 years in my absence, I swear.
If you are waiting for a package from Sally's pawction and you live in the states I sent it, fed ex, yesterday, you'll have it soon.
More later from the ever clueless momPerson who is praising G-d ....... I swear this boy has 7 lives like a cat.
