I've been with The Drool for I think about 11 years now, always as a
lurker, but I've gotten an immeasurable amount of knowledge, laughs and
tears throughout the years and I couldn't imagine not having it in my life.
It's been so fun seeing so many old names lately and I'm glad to know
people are still out there - even if we aren't so vocal about it all the
time!

I discovered the drool shortly after bringing home my first basset Jessie
in December of 2006. I was 22, had grown up with multiple dogs (including
other hounds - dachshunds, beagles and a blue-tick) and thought I knew what
I was getting myself into. I was wrong. The first week I called my mom in
tears because "she won't listen to me, she keeps getting into everything
even when I put up barricades, she barks nonstop, she's so STUBBORN!" My
mom talked me out of hysterics and thankfully, for my own sanity and
Jessie's, I discovered The Drool (probably after googling "help my basset
puppy isn't lazy like I thought she would be and I don't know what to do").

The information I have gotten from all you fine people over the years has
been priceless and I constantly pass it on to others. I'm sure my friends
and family tire of hearing "Oh, well I read on my basset hound email list
about this and have you tried..." Hopefully we can continue this good thing
for a long time to come.

Goodness, I didn't expect to write so much - I just wanted to send a little
note about how much I appreciate this list! Slinging drool and love to all!

Elena and
Jessie (sassy diva since day 1 and I wouldn't have it any other way)
Barney (a Basset Buddies Rescue of Texas alum and much more the "lazy
basset" I was expecting to get with Jess)
Badger (a Corgi who loves his older brother and sister)
