The citronella collars come in either sound activated or 
vibration activated. We unknowingly got a sound activated 
one for Ernie when we were having trouble getting him in and
out of the BUV. Well Daisy would howel the whole time we 
were in the car traveling and poor Ernie kept getting 
sprayed. It took a couple of trips to figure it out. We kept
smelling the citronella and wondered why since Ernie was 
being such a good boy. I still feel terrible about it years 
later. So make sure you get one that is vibration activated 
so that the dog making the noise is the one who gets 
punished!
