[Dailydrool] Splenic tumors & removal

We have had two Bassets with splenic tumors. Llewis had cancer which I
don't think we knew at the time, except that I assume any nodules, lumps,
bumps or growths on the spleen are probably cancer--and he lived quite
awhile and quite happily without the spleen. What happens if you do NOT
remove it is that suddenly your dog exsanguinates one fine night and
there's nothing you can do except watch. It is well worth removing the
spleen if the dog can manage the surgery. This is my opinion only, based on
two dogs and the experiences I had at the Veterinary clinic where I worked.
We wish you best of luck.
