[Dailydrool] Clara does a home check

One of the charities I volunteer for asked me to do a home check on a prospective foster home which already had three dogs. I thought the best way to see how these dogs would react to a new one coming into their space, would be to take Clara with me.
For many years, I could rely on Clara peeing on the floor of any new house, because she associated new houses with losing her first family and was terrified she was being given up again. This has stopped in the past couple of years.
So, Clara was invited in and the three resident dogs were shut into a conservatory where they were noisily very interested to see her arrival. Unperturbed, Clara sniffed her way around the ground floor, then, to my absolute horror, pooped in the hallway. The potential foster mum handed me wipes, asked if I had a bag and just laughed it off.
Her dogs were absolutely lovely, well cared for and happy to socialise with both Clara and me. Clara took herself off to inspect the garden (it was raining) and after a good puddle around marched back into the house and walked straight across the coffee table as the most direct route to me. Potential foster mum just grabbed the mugs out of the way and once again seemed fairly unfazed.
Clara says she should pass.
