I am a big believer in delayed neutering.
The problem comes when owners do not realise what happens when a female
comes in season while waiting to spay.
I cannot tell you the number of people I have encountered walking their
intact, in-season females who blithely think that because she is on a leash
they have control of the situation.
At some point in her cycle, your beloved little girl becomes a total slut.
Her taste in men is appalling. They need only appear to be dogs. I had a
male once push a crate all around a room trying to get at the little flirt
inside and she was less than discouraging.
Also your brother-sister, Father-daughter teams have no inhibitions just
because they are family. ("Oh they would NEVER! He's her SON!" is the call
of the uninformed owner.)
So by all means wait if you can, but be well aware of the risk involved.
Keep your girls home and protected if she is in season.

uncommon in older adult un-neutered males)
