Yes! The green bean diet absolutely works! Our Maggie is a basset mix and the people we got her from didn't know what the dad was, thought maybe black lab. After having our first dog, another half basset, go through a ruptured disc due to partially being too heavy, we have been vigilant about watching the weight on all our bassets since. After she matured, Maggie was putting on weight, even though she only got a cup of food in the morning and a cup at night. So, after reading about the green bean diet, I decided to try it. She gets a half a cup of food and half a can of green beans in the morning and the same at night. Over a period of about three years, she lost 15 pounds and has maintained that weight. She turned 9 in June. We stock up on green beans -- the no salt added kind -- when they are on sale. The funny thing is, our younger basset who we adopted 3 1/2 years ago, thinks he has to have green beans too so he gets a few along with his food and sometimes that is all he eats to start with -- he's not your typical basset and is a picky eater.

Good luck!
