I was raised with black Labs. Josie (Josephine of the Yellowstone) -- 
Dad was a history buff and she was named for the paddlewheel riverboat 
that went up the Yellowstone River. And J.B. (Jet Black) -- no 
explanation necessary.

The cats were Maus (German for Mouse), and Freddy and Jason (littermates 
who were adopted close to Halloween).

Now, the Bassets -- Sniffles (a bagel, who obviously SNIFFED a lot), 
Freckles (who had a lot of them), Canis Minor (a Basset, beagle, 
springer spaniel -- the Vet's office loved this name), Gabby (Gabriella 
Goodwoofer -- who was a talker, even as a buppy), and Misty (who was a 
rescue with name already attached).
