That is just terrible about that poor old hound. All one can hope is that when they get old, they get the same treatment, either on earth on in the hereafter. Kudos to the people that opened their home and hearts to him so he can live the rest of his life in a loving home. They are truly saints. Hope you get updates about him to pass on.
On a lighter note, my little angel has started to change. She now sneaks sitting on the off limits sofa in the living room, and when I catch her, she looks sooo very proud of herself. She also has stared to shamelessly counter cruise and table cruise. She also likes to beg, giving me those soulful brown eyes. I have to admit I am partly to blame there, but hey, it only bothers my wife. She also has a few personality quirks. We have a few steps to get to the hall door outside, and she will sit nicely at the top of the stairs so I can put her harness on, but then as soon as I reach for her leash, she runs down the stairs so I have to bend to put it on while she dances around in anticipation of gong out. She also is more stubborn than my other ones. She turns off her hearing to the words "no" and "come" when she has a good sniff or sees another dog or anyone or anything else. She focuses on the smell or object and it is nigh on impossible to get her to move until she is ready. Lastly, I do not know why, but she seems to find the most difficult spot for me to clean up when she poops. The spot is usually the one with the longest grass or the most weedy spots. But that is probably the reason I like the breed so, or else I am just nuts.
