BABES/OEBE - sure has been long time since I heard those. The tales about some of the houndage was truly amazing. I was glad that while mine were stubborn and could be sneaky, it didn't come close to some of the bassets. Great memories. I mostly lurk and rarely post but have been a member when the list was seriously restricted with a maximum of 200 or 250 members - somewhere around 1993 when we became Barney's food slaves. It was a real education with him who had every dominance trait I heard of. His second owners, before us would let him push them out of bed. It took a while for him to understand that he was no longer boss. About 2 months after we got him the fireworks on the Fourth caused him to go through a lattice panel like it wasn't there. Just BOOM and he was through! Loud noises caused massive panic, drool, whine, pace and not able to settle down.Nothing seemed to help and a low dose of sedative just made him clumsy as he walked. He left after 7 1/2 years unexpectedly in 1999 and is still missed. After that we had Quincy von Moose and he was a sweet gentle guy who was with us for 11 years. Again greatly missed even after nine years. No more hounds now but maybe later. I enjoy every DD release and have sent a few people who wanted to know more about bassets to the group. Best people and bassets in the world on this group!
