If you follow me or our farm (Howling Hound Acres) on Facebook then you have probably already seen this little story. But I know that there are a few that don’t do the FB thing, so I thought I would share on here.
Little back story. I picked up the cutest little Beagle mix from a vet tech in Brandenburg, KY just before Christmas. Her name was Maggie Mae, a 2 year oldish, sweet, gentle, well behaved gem of a little dog. Maggie’s family moved, but left her and her puppies at the old residence. A fabulous and caring neighbor found them and cared for them until Maggie weaned the pups. They found homes for the pups but worked with their vet and Kentuckian Basset Hound Rescue to get Maggie, vetted, spayed and into Ohio Basset Hound Rescue. Initially Maggie was supposed to just stay with us through the holidays and then go into a foster home. She was scared, and depressed when I brought her home. By the time the holidays were over she had improved a lot, so I decided to continue to foster her until she was adopted out to try and elevate as much stress on her as possible from bouncing her around. I had no intention of adopting her, as I have a strict 2 dog rule...do to a lot of things going on in my families lives right now. But Fate had other plans for us and Maggie Mae. There had been interest in Maggie, but not one application was ever filed to adopt her. Then it was Valentines Day. So, some spouses go to “Jared” jewelry stores for Valentines Day Gifts, but my sweetest of all the husband in the galaxy, went to Ohio Basset Hound Rescue and adopted our sweet little foster dog, Maggie Mae. And yes it is official! Maggie is now officially a Howling Hound Acres Hound. Life truly is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get! There was a card and a box of chocolates on the kitchen table. inside the box of chocolates ... with the cellophane wrapper was still intact mind you, was a letter. The letter had a picture of Maggie on it that said “He said I can stay if you want me”. So Maggie Mae....now and forever on to be known as The Magnificent Ms. Maggie Moo of Howling Hound Acres. It was truly a Magical Valentines Day. I hope that all of you are doing well.
