[Dailydrool] Glaucoma strikes the Lindy house again

Long time Droolers probably remember Pw Miss Pauline and her never-
ending glaucoma drops. She lost her right eye to the disease in 2005 but
we managed to maintain her left one her entire life - we did eye drops for
that girl for over 7 years and I am talking 3 times a day, sometimes 4.

Three weeks ago, our sweet Maggie was diagnosed in her left eye and
has already lost her sight in that eye. But those same eye drops are
keeping pressure down in both eyes, at least for now. The eye vet
is hoping that Maggie will regain at least some of her sight in her blind
eye but so far I’m not seeing any changes. She is most likely 13 and I do
hope we can avoid enucleation. Not sure if she’s a candidate for the ablation.

Maggie is a BHRG rescue that we got in 2015 after losing our Crazie
Gracie; she is probably the best dog we’ve ever had. And the most
stoic! I am her person although she likes her dad when he has cheese.

Mags is the 5th basset of ours that has been a patient of this
ophthalmologist - Pauline was the first and best remembered because
she is one of the few dogs who was always thrilled to visit the eye vet.
She was a social girl and well known there. Elmo went for corneal
ulcers; Gracie and Bosley were there for dry eye treatment. The one
vet tech that has been there forever actually came out to find me when
she saw Maggie’s last name and gave me a big hug. How nice to be
remembered!

And so it goes - another mean disease has come to a sweet girl
who doesn’t deserve it. But then, no basset does.

Donna, drool fueler for Maggie and YaYa, who has her own disease.
