Without a law degree I would guess that any time a dog is homeless and you
have *knowledge* of a breeder you contact the breeder and ask if they want
the dog back. FIRST. That is what my breeder says. She is someone not
afraid to sue, so I suppose she knows what she is talking about.
On the other hand, if you know nothing about any of this, I would do pretty
much what you did.

(I would not think of going with someone without a signed contract. What if
the home was not up to snuff with my own room and a regular mealtime? What
if the other housedog got more attention than I? What if the toys didn't
make that crackly sound? A girl has to think about these things.)
