We rarely use the world WALK around our hounds, but I'm sure they'd know it, if we did. We used to use OUT--which has now deteriorated into "the O word," because they became absolute pests when we said it. When he needs to go out, I will say to my husband, "Bel [for example] needs to go the O word."

Somehow, all three have yet to figure out what that means. But I expect them to any day. Every time I say it, I fear an outbreak of barking, but it has yet to happen.

Maybe you need to have "the W word" in your house. Then you won't need to find a new word, but you will hide what it means from the hounds.
