[Dailydrool] Itchies questions

Does anyone use Hydroxyzine for itchies? Freddie has allergies and every  
August he gets so itchy.  He's starting to chew his legs and feet and his  back 
is so itchy.  I thought he was going to make it through this summer  without 
needing it but now the itching begins.  The vet usually gives us  hydroxyzine 
that doesn't seem to do much and we end up having to give  prednisone  as well.  
I don't like to use pred.  
 
Has anyone used Benadryl for allergies and how well does it work? How  much 
do you give a 40# dog and how often? I gave him a benadryl last night and  he 
didn't scratch all night.  So I'm wondering if it works differently and  maybe 
better than the prescription??
 
Droolies to all healing zipper pups (Rupert) and other not feeling so  well.  
Congrats to Lewis and Nigel, did we read they got to sleep without  their
