[Dailydrool] Red Eyes and Cranky

Ok,

So I need some advice. My vet says I'm over reacting, but I think he is
underreacting, so we are at an impasse. For the longest time now, Drake has
had VERY red eyes. HE has thick dark "eye boogies" and very red eyes. I
don't know any other way to explain it. I thought it was just a basset thing
until this summer when Ahroo-ba came to us. His eyes are normal clear and
beautiful brown. Just like Drake's used to be. But it has been at least a
year since Drake's eyes were that clear and pretty. The vet thinks maybe he
just has seasonal allergies but its year round. Now I know we live in MS,
and there is always some allergen flying around, but could it be something
else? I don't notice it all the time, but my mother has been in town for a
few weeks and points it out often (sometimes being rather crude about it,
but hey, she's a good nana to the boys) and it reminds me that it is there.
This is not the first time my vet has told me to calm down over something
minor, wait until it is a problem before I panic. Drives me crazy, as he is
not the most reassuring sometimes. He is great with the kids, but still, I
have to catch things when they are small. So please, someone who sees more
bassets than just mine, what can this be?

Also, recently, Drake has become a very snarky little boy. He and Ahrooba
have always fought over food so they don't eat together. Sometimes they
fight over attention from me and I have to separate. No big deal. But in the
past two weeks, Drake has been bowing up on Ahroo every time he sees him.
Cant put them out together, have to keep apart in the house. Once night I
was bringing one from the backyard and swapping them out. Drake bowed up
again. Then the fatal mistake, he bowed up and his lab brother Bo over some
food. Stupid idea little boy, Bo is alpha, and rules mighty softly until
provoked. Then he will take a plug out (hence the cute little white scar on
Drake's nose). I know that Bo is getting up there in years, and perhaps
Drake is asserting his new pack order, but I'm not pleased with it. Since I
work and go to school, they are at home alone together a lot, and my mom can
only stay for a while at a time. I'm afraid to leave them together, any of
them, and don't have the facilities to separate four dogs without one being
in the crate (and I'm gone far to long for that to be humane) So, any
suggestions?
