there had been a question about head tremors recently, and i decided to
post to the whole list because i saw my vet today.....he said it is
common in bassets and beagles and is a genetic thing affecting the inner
ear and their equilibrium.......the reason the dog is alert, follows
commands etc. is because it is not affecting the brain, but the
ear......he also said there is a surgery, but the one time he did it the
dog got worse, and so he recommends doing nothing and not worrying about
it.......on the other hand, Einstein gained 7 lbs. since his last visit,
and was told to go on a diet.......no more merrick's everyday with his
kibble, just some low fat yogurt, pumpkin or low fat cottage
cheese....he likes all three......i think he eats too many cookies from
daddy, so the alert is out to cut back.....Einstein says he is in good
company with Oprah!!.....i love my big fat baby but i will comply with
the vet's instruction......nancy, hershey and einstein
