Regarding Penny' s daughter's bloat - I had a similar experience with a
Great Dane.  She bloated and we had her stomach tacked.  7 weeks later  
she
bloated again.  We assumed it was from a tissue breakdown in the area  
of the tacking.
We took her to a different emergency vet and learned that the first  
tacking was
done in the wrong place.  This certainly may not be the case with this  
dog, but
I wanted you to know what happened to our Dane (she did survive).
