[Dailydrool] Why did Sadie leave me?

This is the question mom asks every day.
She wants to know why Sadie left 4 months 10 days after
Mandy the Cocker Spaniel. Sadie was still comforting mom
since Mandy's leave for the bridge. Sadie was always the affectionate
one while I am stand offish. When people came over I would hide but
Mandy & Sadie would do the meet & greet. If mom was laying on the
floor, Sadie would come & lay her head on mom's shoulder, or they
would spoon together & Sadie could hug. She would lay facing you &
put her front paws on mom's shoulders & comfort her when mom cried
about Mandy. I don't do any of that so I'm not doing a good job consoling
her. Mom had a very in-depth conversation with the vet about the surgery.
The tumor on the spleen was found by accident on the x-ray & ultrasound.
Sadie had these tests to see why she wasn't eating. They thought it was
flooring but it actually was a place mat. If Sadie did not have the surgery
she would ended having bled to death. So mom had a long talk with
Sadie. You have to understand that Mandy was mom's first ever dog &
Sadie was the first basset that she always wanted since she was a little
girl from a paint by number picture of a hound. She still has it & it's framed.
There was a bond between these 3. Mom could hold conversations with them.
So she asked Sadie if she wanted this operation so she could eat again &
not to worry about the tumor bleeding out. This was another long conversation.
Everything here has always revolved around us. She bought us a new house so
we could have our own room, put up a 6 foot privacy fence & built us a carport
roof so we can go to the bathroom & not get wet, we have TV trays for our bowls
with place mats with rugs underneath that. So why did Sadie die 10 hours after
surgery. All they could say that is must have been a blood clot. They don't know
if it went to the heart or the brain but needless to say, mom still doesn't understand.
Mom always wants to do the right thing for us. She believed Sadie did not want to
leave yet. Sadie would want mom to be with her just like mom was with Mandy
when she left. Mom would never let Sadie leave us all alone with no one beside
her. People are trying to explain to mom that she wasn't in any pain since she
was on morphine & that her body no longer could fight to be stronger & recover.
Mom has not come to terms with this at all!!! Mom would never had put Sadie in
any pain & would have helped her to the bridge when the time came. Sadie was
all alone when she left. They called & mom went to see her & she was still warm.
I refused to go near her. Mom is very lost without her. She doesn't even want to
come home from work. What for - there's nothing here & it's so quite. Even though
Sadie slept a lot you could hearing her breathing. Mom looks at me & says she
doesn't know what to do for me. She's so heartbroken that all she does is cry.
She can't get over the guilt that it was her fault for hurting Sadie & having her leave
without us being with her.
We would like to thank everyone who sent us condolences on & off the drool, cards
& ecards, etc. It's nice to know that other people know how we feel when we lose a
love hound/dog family member. We are her life & world.
Also, we want to send out our sympathy to those who have lost a hound after us. We
can't read about those just yet since mom is still in her deep grief.

P.S. Sadie's calendar day is coming up. Look at how beautiful she is (with her pearls)
Also, we are sending our howliday cards out this week. The picture was taken one
month before Sadie's surgery. She doesn't look like a hound that was ready to leave.
