Homer, in spite of all of his OEBE characteristics, never howled...The  first 
time I heard a basset howl was when I was at a basset get together in  Essex, 
England.  Homer had quite an array of sounds from mooing to whining  and just 
plain barking when he was telling me off...but I never heard a howl out  of 
him.  There's a little beagle down the street...oddly named, Angel...who  does 
not know how to bark.  All she does is howl...especially if we walk  by..All 
the neighbors near them keep windows and doors closed.   Fortunately, they're 
moving before fall because of the horrible school district  we live in.
  Esther and Sammy(who causes the beagle to Howl when he walks  by)
