I had to laugh when I read Rule #12 from Lovely Lucy:

"I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E-E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O or R-I-D-E."

My husband and I stopped using the word WALK and replaced it with STROLL, but the dogs have caught on. We are now trying to come up with another replacement word that doesn't send all of our dogs into a tizzy.

A funny side story to this - my husband and I were watching a cooking show on PBS where the chef was using a wok. We started to discuss how much we wanted a wok, where we could get a nice wok, using the wok on an electric stove, etc. Our poor bluetick was going absolutely bananas and we couldn't figure out why. Then we realized that since he can't spell, he couldn't decipher beween W-O-K and W-A-L-K. Needless to say, we had to take everyone for a stroll after that.

To add to the vacuum discussion, I'm with Synthia. I grab what I can, when I can and hope that nobody visits without a warning!

And by far the best invention is probably baby gates. Without them, my Maggie would have completely destroyed anything that I have of value.
