Hi, Lainee,

I have met Barbara Cromley (in fact some years ago, I showed under her -
didn't do much in the ring that day, but I was a rank novice at the
time..). Some of her Lochopt dogs are what we call "back of my dogs" in the
pedigree, meaning that a number of her dogs are represented in the ancestors
of my bitch Phoebe.

She and her husband bred Risk (CH. Lochopt Risk of Rebownd, ROM), who
produced Ch. Halcyon Lochopt Letterman, who then sired CH. Halcyon
Tailgater, who won Best of Breed at the Basset Hound Club of America 1991
specialty. Letterman also sired CH. Brasstax Robin of Locksley, who was the
1987 Basset Hound Club of America National Specialty Best of Breed Winner.
"Robbie" was the grandsire of my girl Phoebe, and is the great-grandsire of
my girls Surprise and Luna, and my co-breeder's Isaac and Dinah, and a
number of other beautiful HeavenScent dogs living happily as pets with a
variety of families in the NW.

Do ask Mrs. Cromley about the background and pedigrees of the puppies she
is showing you. If you are lucky, you will hear stories and see pictures of
some beautiful and top-winning Bassets over the past couple of
decades....While I know your interest is in a pet puppy for your family, one
of the best things about getting a well-bred dog is forging a good
relationship with a reputable breeder, and one of the ways to good breeders'
hearts is to ask them about the dogs they have bred! You'll learn a lot....

I think you will likely enjoy meeting Mrs. Cromley, and I think if you are
able to get a puppy or a young dog from her, you should be very happy with
longevity and looks both....

Hope this is helpful.
