.If she is rolling over on her back and peeing, this is submissive urination
and she is saying "I am just a baby, don't hurt me". If she is dancing all
over and leaping and peeing, she is excited to see you. Either way the less
attention you pay to her when you arrive home, the better off everyone is.
Come in, let her out to pee without talking to her or petting her at all.
Once she settles a little, then give her attention.
By the way, BASSETS WORK FOR FOOD.
There is simply no way of getting around this. Would you go to work each day
if, at the end of the pay period the Boss said "Hey, job well done!" and
gave you a hug? Not for long, you wouldn't. The Boss gives you a check.
People work for money: Bassets work for food.

If you are concerned about weight gain add a walk, cut back on the amount of
food in her regular meal, buy low calorie treats, but don't try to slide by
with a pat on the head instead of a good cookie. Eventually, she will catch
on and the jig will be up. She will simply sit and stare at you when you
give her a suggestion (there is no point in giving a "command" to a Basset.
They do not believe in Commands.)  Nothing. Nothing in this Universe can
compare to a Basset Hound who feels she has been slighted. She will fix you
with the most baleful stare you can imagine and then, suddenly, poof-- you
simply cease to exist for her until you come across with something
worthwhile, like McDonald's or grilled Chicken.
