[Dailydrool] Drool and Eyes

First we want to send all the drool we have to those houndies and humans who
are sick or hurting. Rupert is a total drooler so we have plenty to spare.

Duke moved out yesterday with his dad. They only live about 10 minutes away
so its not a huge deal but I still miss him. He is my lil bed buddy since
neither of the bassets sleep in our bed. I know we will see him often though
and I'm sure I'll have future questions/updates if in fact he shows future
epilepsy symptoms. Thanks again to everyone who had kind words and advice on
that matter.

After seeing all the recent talk about hounds with eye problems, I wanted to
pose a question about Ruperts eyes. It seems as if the his eyelids sag quite
a bit so you can barely see his pupils. Its as if he has his eyes rolled in
the back of his head because the upper eyelid is hanging so far down. Then
he has to lift his head up to see us fully....or maybe he can see just fine,
I dunno but its really sad looking. Anyroo, when he saw the vet recently
they gave me some eye drops and said to do it 2x/day for 10 days. I've been
doing it and have noticed a huge improvment in the visibility of his
pupil....but only for about 6-8 hours and then he needs the drops again. My
question is, why would they have me only do it for 10 days if its not a
permanent fix? Do you think they just wanted to test it and see if we saw
results? Do you think its unsafe of me to continue giving him the drops past
the 10 day instructions?

Thanks,
Kacy with Cowboy & Rupert......also I have taken some pics of Ru's front
pads to show what I thought is scar or burn tissue. I'll upload them over
the weekend and then see if you basset experts agree or not.....thanks again
and drool to all!
