O.K. Point #1: When we at MBR get an application from out of state and that
State has an active rescue, we refer the applicant to their local rescue. We
Don't believe in sending bassets all over the country when there are bassets
Needing homes where the applicant lives.

ANSWER: I nor any Basset Rescue can control which dog an adopter falls in
love with, if that dog out of state then what right do we have to tell them
they CAN'T adopt from us because there is a local Basset Rescue in their
state? I personally fell in love with a little Basset girl from KS, and I
adopted her when at the time I lived in IL. Adopters do move, and hence
taking the dog out of the state it was adopted in. What beliefs your rescue
has is not necessarily the beliefs of all other rescues, sorry plain and
simple. To each his own!!

Point #2: If you check the DailyDrool.com web page, there's a list of all
The rescue groups around the country and their contact information. If you
Want a basset rescue in Michigan to help with a home visit in Michigan, then
Contact us!

ANSWER: I did check the list and I was WELL AWARE of your rescue. I chose
not to contact your rescue for the simple fact that some of the other rescue
s I work with and their volunteers had concerns about your
rescues/volunteers conduct. Not everyone in other Basset Rescues works with
all the other Basset Rescues, and again to each his own!!

Point #3: At least you are asking for help with a home visit. That's a good
Thing. A lot of groups send bassets here without doing that. Nor do they
Check with us to see if... Just maybe... This applicant is someone we turned
Down.

ANSWER: This applicant made it VERY clear on his application he was turned
down by another rescue, not yours mind you, but that is was due to the fact
he had an underground fencing system. I contacted that rescue and they like
us found nothing out of the ordinary with the application and that the ONLY
reason they denied him was because of the underground system!!

Point #4: If the adoption doesn't work out, how do you plan to get the
Basset back to Iowa? We've gotten bassets sent here from out of state into
Our rescue and re- placed them here after the original group wouldn't/couldn
T take them back.

ANSWER: Not that this is any of your business, but Hounds Haven makes it
VERY clear like any other rescue does, that the dog be returned to us. We
would have that adopter take the dog to a local vet clinic where WE (being
Hounds Haven) would pay for it boarding until I( the transport coordinator)
could arrange for it's transport back to IA. We would never think of
burdening another rescue with a hound currently placed by our rescue. That
s just unthinkable!!!

Have a great day and it was so nice meeting your acquaintance but wish it
could have been in a more private one on one manner not a public forum!!
