[Dailydrool] Nails and BonnyBasset

I had to laugh reading some of the comments on nail clipping! Since we've adopted Bonny last October form NEBHR - this has become quite an adventure. The Vet did it the first time - and that was along with regular check up - she was not too happy. Next time I took her into PETCO - that was okay until they put her short little shelf on the table and she heard the other dogs barking - and table was slickery - she wouldn't even accept her treat from them - just spit it on the floor and squirmed to get away. After that I decided to give it a try. If I had a video of this adventure I could make good money! Yet, I was determined that I COULD DO THIS AND SHE WOULD COOPERATE - heheh - well - I did do it - she did cooperate - that is after I straddled her body - she whined - hair everywhere - panting - oh my! - but it was done - she has long nails with the quik near the surface - so much fun! Last week - it was time to trim again - I try to do it about every 2 weeks - She is calming down - and submits - grudgingly - she was fairly quiet - once I caught her .... for 3 paws - by the time I got to the 4th she bolted - I chased - she hollered - I caught - subdued - she whined and moaned - and shed a ton of hair - but it was DONE - then she bolted and finally plopped her trimmed self in the middle of the living room - ears spread out on the rug - head flat - eyes soooooo sad -- not looking at me --- and sighing --- finally --- I got down on the floor with a treat - layed there and told her what a pretty girl she was - snooter kiss, kiss - and then - I was forgiven -- BUT she was going to pout awhile until I let her know she was the most beautimous puppy in the whole wide world - My sister Marti Gregor says Bonny sounds a tad spoiled - Nah....y'think?
   We have had so much fun with her and her antics. She has one favorite toy that I keep mending - I even washed it in the little nylon bag so it wouldn't shed more - than as I was mending it for the umpteenth time she sat and watched Woofing encouragement to hurry up.
   I enjoy perusing the daily drool - so many stories to laugh or empathize with! Snooter kisses to all, BonnyBasset's mom slave Rebecca
