Hello everyone,
So, we're back in Wyoming after a very busy weekend. Watson is here
with me. I am relieved to report that the bruise is much better and
almost gone. This cream we bought from the health food store for
Watson's bruise - Arnica Montana - really seems to work. It was only 6
dollars. Since I am always walking into tables, walls, etc, I am going
to try it on myself the next time I get a bruise it really took care
of that fast! Anyway, Watson is doing better. The vet felt around and
said that he didn't think anything was broken. Since he seemed so
sure, we've decided to wait it out. I guess since this bruise is going
away, that's a good sign. Watson is still sleepy but seems to be
getting better every day. I think it may be the rimadyl and he was
probably sore too. The vet said that his muscles in between his ribs
and his sternum are probably sore which would make him not want to
walk as much. We'll see how this week in Wyoming goes. I think some of
this pouty attitude was also that I left him alone last week...maybe
I'm giving him too much credit though :) Who knows. I am waiting for
him to settle down and come to bed, but he's busy exploring the house.
He hasn't been here for two weeks and has to make sure there aren't
anymore cats around here. He's also rediscovering his bones and toys
that we left here - he finds each one, and bounces around the house
with it until he locates the next one.

Anyway, we decided to go to the Ft. Collins picnic on Saturday and had
a great time. We got to meet Santana and his parents, and a bunch of
other houndies. It was so great to meet them and put a face to the
names and stories. Santana is even more handsome in pawson :) Watson
was still pretty tired and quite nervous around all those dogs, but I
think it was good for him. When he was about 10 weeks old, and then
again 6 months old, he was pretty severely bitten by one of my
parent's border collies. So, around a lot of dogs like that he gets
nervous. When he's one-on-one though, he does great and plays. He's
never reacted aggressively or given me reason to be concerned, I just
think that amount of dogs weirds him out. By the time we left his tail
was wagging and he was approaching other houndies to sniff and say
hello - that's a good start I think. This was our first basset event,
and we were so glad we got to go. The picnic had a small turnout but 3
out of the 4 dogs for adoption found forever homes, so that was great
to see. I'm slowly working on dadperson to get a buddy for Watson, but
that's going to take time. It took me 4 years to convince him to get
one dog...hopefully we'll cut that down but who knows when the next
one will come. I have pictures from the picnic that I'm going to
upload hopefully this week. Once I do, I will let you guys know.

Anyway, thanks for the great advice. Watson is thinking about maybe
going to sleep but seems displeased that I am still on the computer -
so I guess its time to say goodnight.
Droolers rule.
Thanks again,
Katie and Watson (ok time fur bed momma - keep me warm)
