I had Pierre back at the Vet yesterday because he was really flared up with a rash in his arm pits and groin area. I has been off antibiotics for a staph infection for a few weeks, so I just wanted to make sure with the Vet the best course of action. His body was warm to the touch also. I couldn't get in until the afternoon, so in the meantime, I washed the affected areas and rubbed in Animax. After that soaked in a bit, I powered him with Gold Bond. By the time he was off the see the Doc, he looked 100% better, but I went anyway. No need to go back on the antibiotics, he got a shot to bring him faster relief, and he will have to stay on pred a while longer. What came to my mind on the way to the Vet's is that I had applied frontline plus to Pierre the day before, and when I asked the vet, could this have been related to the rash he said yes because other dogs in his practice do have allergic reactions to this preventative. Pierre is doing great today, and he even went on a most excellent walk. Pumpkin went with him, and it started with a run in with the Fedex delivery man, who happened to have biscuits for the pups. Even Pumpkin who is usually a little shy gladly accepted belly rubs from this guy - they really know a dog lover, instinctively don't they? Next on the walk, Pierre pulls me to the house where one of his best buds used to live, Harley (ATB). Harley's slave mom was unpacking groceries and we chatted a bit, and it turns out that the family rescued a new pit bull named Angel. So, Pumpkin and Pierre got to meet Angel, and I think they would have loved to stay and play, but they pulled me away because they really had to do their business and wanted privacy. A few houses down, a lawn maintenance truck pulls up, and the driver gets out, and he very accurately pointed out that the hounds were walking ME. He came over to pet Pierre, and Pierre howled at him, asking "where are the biscuits?", and Pumpkin did her shy routine. Then we rounded a couple of corners, and a Mom and her little boy were unloading some packages from their car, and what did Mom have in her had but half of a MacDonald's breakfast sandwich. Pierre zoned in on that right away. Pierre sat down and let the little boy pet him, and the boy was a little shy. Pierre was really fixed on the sandwich however, and howled that he wanted a bite. I think he made the little boy a little nervous, so we moved on. Next stop was dad slave Bob's house, and Pierre usually lingers here because sometimes Buster the beagle will notice him and make Dad slave come out to play. Sigh, not today. We finally got home, and all the other hounds sniffed with jealousy all the new smells on Pierre and Pumpkin. My sister walked Jellybean and Max next - they are speed racers, love to go fast. Then I took Jean Paul and Colette. JP surprised me because he has a little limp (arthritis), but he really wanted to go the distance. We saw a postal worker, grrr, grr, she just laughs. We saw Barnaby's dad slave, and sadly B went to the bridge labor day weekend. He was a majestic shepherd who had a wonderful long life, and another one of Pierre's buddies. He will be missed. We saw our elderly couple friend who JP really likes no grr, grr. Colette was a little skittish because JP brought her to areas that she never walked before as she always said no, no, I am too scared, but since she was with JP, alpha and leader, she was more brave than normal. Now Sis is walking Nikki and Nigel, and I will go out to walk Mom. Then, I get to go pick up my first royalty check, ever, for my original music. Hold on $10.00!!!!!! That is going to get framed.Healing drool to all, prayers and sympathy.Jackie, Pumpkin, Jean Paul, Pierre, Jellybean, Nigel, Colette, Max and Little Nikki
