I am truly enjoying reading about the senior hounds in the calendar contest. Several of them were familiar to me from the Drool (like April and her puppies), but other ones are new to me and have such inspiring stories! How I wish they could all win! The pictures are just outstanding, and each dog in itself is so appealing. I would love for each of the owners to share the story of their dog on the Drool. What a wonderful way to get to know one another better and what an inspired idea for a fundraiser!

I entered my Rosie (she is sleeping on a bed nestled between two pillows) and have avenged myself on everyone who ever had me buy wrapping paper or candy from their children by pleading for votes! Rosie was about 3 or 4 years old in 2005 when she came to live with me, so she is just barely registering in the senior category. She was the product of a puppy mill, rescued by Bluegrass Basset (and fostered by Randee White - occasional contributor to the Drool!). She loves a soft spot to sleep - maybe all those years in a wire crate with sore feet helps her appreciate comfort. I have so many pictures of her sleeping - on the couch, in a chair, on the bed - wherever a soft spot can be found you will find Rosie! And if there's a spot of sunshine nearby she is beside herself with happiness.

You won't regret taking a peek at these beautiful dogs. And the next thing you know you'll be casting your own vote for your special favorite!
