[Dailydrool] Clara and Malamute

I am sorry Clara was attacked by Mim.  We have a Malamute that loves 
people but she is dog aggressive to any dog outside her pack and other 
female dogs.  She was dumped at the shelter at 18 months old with a 
choke collar that had almost grown into her neck.  We adopted her, I 
fell in love and then we discovered the aggression.  Malamutes are a 
challenging breed to own.  The owner must be completely dominate over 
them, no questions asked, period.  The majority of them are same sex 
aggressive, which might explain why Clara was the target and not Rolph.  
Malamutes also need to be watched around small children because they 
have a very strong prey instinct.  The size and quick movements of small 
children make them think they are prey.  I wouldn't walk Clara by Mim 
again if she is loose. I love my dog and with behavior training she has 
made tremendous gains in the last nine years but I wouldn't ever pair 
her with another female dog.
