Dear Droolers, I've emailed Basset Buddies in Houston to see if they can help and am waiting for a response--but I'm getting busy posting to the Drool, too, just in case. One of our Las Vegas Rescue Bassets is in a shelter (BARC) in Houston. We were contacted by a very nice gal at the shelter after locating us via the microchip. The person we adopted "Delilah" to in 2006 apparently moved to Houston, from Vegas, some time ago (just fell off the map and didn't notify us). Got info on his Houston address, but he has moved again--seemingly leaving Delilah behind. Don't know if he lost her in the move and will be looking for her, but info I'm getting now is that he's not in a stable situation. Bottom line is that we need to move her from BARC asap. The lady at the shelter has been wonderful and knows I'm trying to work something out. **I now live in east Tennessee (Knoxville area) and want her to come to me, as I'm closer to Houston than is Las Vegas. I still volunteer for LVBR and am the former prez, so these plans are okay with the current LVBR prez, Kathleen Delaney. Delilah is chipped to me, so legally mine, shelter agrees. Hoping to hear from Basset Buddies, but if a Drooler in Houston thinks they can assist Delilah (and me) please email me at decadog at comcast.net   I will pay shelter fees for pulling her and boarding fees at a kindly vet--please send me referrals for vets in the area, too. Then I need to arrange a partial relay or drive the 950 miles to Houston myself. Delilah and I appreciate any help, info, etc.
Delilah was adopted to this man, along with "Dexter", as a bonded pair. I have no idea where Dexter is, if he's still alive, still with adopter, etc. I've notified BARC of his chip info and sent a picture. This is so upsetting. So many times I've prayed to see into an adopters soul, to be sure they would do right by the dog I entrusted to their care. All rescuers wish for this wisdom. All I can do now is try to get Delilah to me, she will stay with me forever (the man was Dex and Delilah's 3rd home). She's about 9 y.o. now.
Thank you.
