[Dailydrool] fighting ticks

I don't have an answer about the topical treatments for fleas. I only apply treatment when we have an issue with fleas around here. I have found that neither of the well know topicals work with ticks, IMO. I use a collar called Preventic. It does wonders on killing ticks. They are a bit pricey, I can get them through Anicare, Inc for about 11 each, but they are rated to last 3 months, so not as bad as it first comes across. Of course when we bathe, they come off, but never saw any rain affect their lifespan.

I don't have any answers for you, but would like to clarify the getting wet thing. I'm pretty sure topical treatments will only wash off if you bathe the dog before the treatment has a chance to be absorbed into the skin.

I did ask the vetlady about that. I believe the box says not to bathe 2 days before or 2 days after topical treatment. So I assumed that it was absorbed. Vetlady said it washes off. So now I'm stumped. Those products are expensive and we do have ticks at our lake property.
