Esther,Not sure if you have found a solution yet (we are weeks behind on
drools)--When we adopted Mazzie from the Humane Society in September of 2005
she came with lots of dandruff on a short haired black basset with lots of
speckling. She had been at the shelter almost 2 months so we thought
perhaps it was what she had been fed or due to not being bathed. We bathed
her and it took care of some of the dandruff, but not all. I believe it just
took time. We did oatmeal shampoo baths and we found that she needs fish
based food to keep her skin and belly happy. We tried Canidae, Nutro Natural
Choice, Royal Canine something, Dick Van Patton, Something from the vet,
Blue Buffalo, etc., but in the end what works for her (and her only here)
is Purina One Sensitive Systems Dog Food which does have a "no no" that I
don't like to feed in it. Once in a while when it becomes shedding season
we will find a tiny amount of dandruff if we brush and brush, but other
than that it just took time. I guess it was the oatmeal baths for us and
finding a food that worked for her. She has a soft and shiny coat. So I
guess what I am saying is it may take some time as frustrating as that may
be. Good luck to you.
