[Dailydrool] an oddity I simply don't understand

I agree..that would never happen in our house either.. We just adopted a 4 1/2 month old female, had been in 3 homes in less than 5 months..originally found with a chain embeddded around her neck. SHe got rescued and the next 2 homes weren't a fit for her either...that's ok she has found a permanent home now...
I was making lunch the other day, turned around to put the jelly back in the frig...and turned back around and one of my sandwiches was gone...I looked down and half of the sandwich was sticking out of Molly's mouth as she lay quietly on the floor eating part of my lunch...boy was she quick... she almost got the bronies also but they were closer to the back and not so close to the front..

Elder Clara had me very worried, and I was--shall we say- in a state, I couldn't even ask for drool. If I wrote it, it upset me worse. At Elder Clara's age-14----- things can go from bad to worse real fast.
>
> Clara has a heart murmur, and has been on meds since she came to her forever home here 2 1/2 years ago. No real issues, but in the past 2 weeks, she got slower, panting, roaring less at Elwood, and what was even more alarming was he would not roar at her. He gave her space, sniffed her, was a gentleman. I about fell out. I took her to see Doc-now this was a moment-as she protested from start to finish-Doc was concerned, her heart murmur appeared worse, he recommended a trip to a cardiologist. I made the appointment, took the day off, and her we go.
>
> Clara was not thrilled. Clara spent 6 hours being tested, they went very slow, to help her calm down. During this time I sat in the waiting room talking to all the others bringing in other heart patients. Dogs of all breeds, and of all stages of heart problems.
>
> Elder Clara was the oldest of them all in that day. I listened as folks told of numerous meds, how often they are seen, and I kept thinking of Clara's age compaired to all the others.
>
> They finally called us back. Results are now in. Blood and urine, fine. Blood pressure, very good. Heart rate okay, and heart murmur is mild to slightly moderate. She adjusted the meds she is already on, discussed her "fat pads"--wants her to loose 10 pounds-and said take her home, love her, and come back in 2 months.
>
> I was thrilled, astounded, my prayers were answered.
>
> Clara walked in the house, roared at Jake, chased him across the kitchen, and demanded her dinner bowl. Fat pads be damned-

> I just read about Browser's battle with glaucoma, and was struck by his mom saying how he seems to be making a map in his head.? I have also been reading the thread (and contributed to it myself) about a basset's sense of smell.? As an optometrist, I know what a devastating disease glaucoma is, and how difficult it is to control.? What I think we need to remember though, is that bassets do not rely first and foremost on their sense of sight.? They navigate through the world, size up people and other dogs, and investigate all the cool things around them with their noses.? I am sometimes amazed when I throw a cookie near Fred or Annie, and they wander around sniffing for it.? I point and say, "look, look!"? But, until they smell it, they can't find it!? Since WE rely so heavily on sight, we think about how devastating it would be for US to lose our vision, and probably transfer that to our babies.? While I'm sure there is quite an adjustment, especially initially, I would have

> I have recently had the same feeding problem with a new kitten I inherited, but my Bullit Boomer is also, sometimes, interested in the litter box. I have solved my problem by putting the kitten's food, water and litter box in the master bath tub. It's a large garden tub that I seldom ever use (I prefer the shower) and it is very simple to take those items out, rinse away any litter that may have escaped and the tub is good to go. It's certainly worth the effort because they have become such good buddies and I don't have to give Mr. B B every minute of my time. It's also entertaining to see the little kitten chasing that 70+ pound boy around the house and he is getting his much needed exercise! Another problem that's been solved----B B likes slip upstairs and leave a 'calling card' so I put 4 round cabinet door knobs, two on each side, on the back of the newel posts at the bottom of the stairs, and I hang a small net across the bottom steps. It's quicker to move tha
> n a gate and nobody will notice the knobs if they are small and close to the color of the newel posts. I would think this could work good for rooms that you want to keep off limits, too. Good wishes from Bullit Boomer and Iddie Biddie Kiddie! _____________________________________ Letter content was scanned No threat detected www.winantivirus.com ---------------------------------------------------

We would put her in the bedroom and hide treats all over the living room and then tell her to go find them. She would look for the easy ones first, but then you would see her move her head left and right until she zoned in on a biscuit. Once my husband hid a Milkbone inside a dirty sock and she found it!! I said YUCK, but he said GOOD GIRL!! :) We find that it is too hard to play with multiple dogs, so we don't play any more, but I have a feeling that the skinny little Madden would be the best hunter as she has a nose on her like no ones business!!
