Bonjour (da mum here in France)

My dear La Pw Misty ATB was insured from birth (my mum's idea, not  
mine).  Anyway, I continued her insurance and chose a good one,  
reimbursing fully, not just accidents.  Expensive but at least there  
was no clause which threw her out after a certain age, which is  
important.  When Misty got to 8 yrs old she started having serious  
health problems (as some may remember) and was a regular visitor to  
the vet's.  I always jokingly said that it was thanks to me that he  
had holidays!

Anyways, when Misty was just over 9 yrs I had a letter from the  
insurance company CANCELLING the policy!  I rang them up and even  
though they never put it in writing, they admitted that it was due to  
the fact that they were paying out too much!!!  I was costing them  
more than I was paying!!!  (Up until then I'd always thought that that  
was how insurance worked - <duh>!!!).

So, I found myself with Misty at the age of 9 with NO insurance, for  
the first time in her life, and all the other companies did not take  
on new dogs over the age of 8!!!  I tell you, I was disguisted.  NEVER  
go to GROUPAMA - if they exist where you are.

The lesson?  I vowed to never take out pet insurance again.  As Cathy  
says, put a little aside each month, or not, or better still find out  
what the annual cost of pet insurance is and put THAT aside!
