Hi Cheryl-

Just wanted to let you know about our recent rescue experience.

We sent the online application in on a Sunday around midnight...the rescue "cooerdinator" called us the next morning (Mon.) around 9 am for further conversation, and invited us to come have a look at the 13 available houndies anytime that was convenient for us. The following morning (Tues) at 5 am, we embarked on the 5 hour one way drive to the rescue facility and by 7 pm that evening, our two new babies waddled into their new forever home! (this was exactly two weeks ago today-and all day long we have been reminding the girls that today was the last day to "return the defective merchandise" if we decided that they were not working out for us...yeah, I can hear all of your DD's laughing loudly at the possibility of THAT happening...well, it was worth a try to at least attempt to assert our Alpha pack status one more time, even though we all know that title rarely belongs to the human of a houndie!!).

So anyway...for us, it was less than a 48 hour turnaround from putting in the application to being owned/outnumbered by a new total of three hounds in the house! How blessed are we?!! So I would say if you are ready, then there is most certainly a houndie out there just counting the days until his mommy & daddy come get him!

And btw-we adopted from Washington Basset Rescue (wabr.net) in Spokane Washington, which has been run for 12 years by Basset angelmommyfoodslave Pat, who, ON HER OWN for the past 3 years since her partner died, has cared for hundreds of houndies,in her house (where the rescue is located) and this year alone has placed 90 darling deserving droolers (including ours) into forever homes. Remember her and all the other selfless "slaves" who do the incredible hard work of reescue, foster, adoption, etc. in your prayers for being blessed with support, energy, health, patience, financial rescources and continued unconditional love from those they help and save. Our two new girls came to us because of Pat & people like her all across tis globe, and we are forever grateful. Go for it Cheryl, just think-the next time you post on here, you might be introducing us to your new furbaby! GOOD LUCK!

happy surroundy by houndies foodslave mommy Laurie
