I let Jake the Beagle go today.
He had been failing over the last year and more rapidly over the last
month.
He was sweet and gentle as only a Beagle could be.
He taught Gary that a dog could live in the house and still hunt like
crazy.
He taught our son the joy of hunting behind a dog who knew what he was
doing.
He tolerated the many fosters and foster failures who invaded his home
with a grace and kindness that always amazed me.
He had a voice that could go right thru me if I was a minute late with
his food.
>From the day he was 6 weeks old and came home to us, he owned my heart.
If there is rabbit hunting in Heaven, I know Gary and Jake are out there
chasing those bunnies today.
